TBX from SDL Trados Multiterm won't upload

Yesterday I wanted to upload a TBX SDL Trados Multiterm 2014, reportedly compliant with TBXcsV02.xsd, but the upload failed. Without other options available, I can't upload terminology (I don't use Cafetran). Could you also support the XML bilingual gossary format recognized by Multiterm?

Hi Piotr,

Thanks for your post and sorry you had trouble uploading the file. I'll contact you by email to get some more details on your particular file. I definitely want to support SDL Trados Multiterm glossaries on TM-Town, so if there is an issue I want to get it fixed.

This might not be related to this issue, but currently I am only whitelisting terminology files that have a file extension of .csv, or .tbx. So if your file is a TBX file but is named with a different extension, try renaming it to end in .tbx and you should be able to upload it on TM-Town.

SDL Multiterm can be a difficult format to export from and I have had problems with tbx files exported from Multiterm. I use both SDL Multiterm (required by a client) and MemoQ and have found that the xml format is a good format to use when exporting from Multiterm. I receive a monthly update to a client's glossary supplied as an .xml and .xdt (definition) file for import into Multiterm. The .xml imports seamlessly into MemoQ so it might be an idea to look at the possibility of investigating whether you can use .xml exports from Multiterm.

Hi Janine,

I recently whitelisted .xml specifically for SDL Multiterm exports that are in tbx format but have an .xml extension. Can you try uploading the .xml file you have and see if you have trouble? If you do, please email me and I'll take a closer look at it.

My comment was intended primarily for Piotr as I wasn't trying to upload my xml file to TM Town. From past experience the tbx exports from Multiterm can be problematical. However, I've had good experience of exporting Multiterm glossaries as xml files so I thought it might be worth Piotr giving that option a try.

Your insight on this topic is truly enlightening. It's evident that you've put a lot of thought into your perspective, and your positive approach is both refreshing and inspiring. Keep sharing your valuable thoughts as I am doing my ccsp training right now so it is difficult to spare a time nowadays but such post motivates me to come back again.
