A trade-mark is a distinctive sign of some kind which is used by a business to identify itself and its products and services to consumers, and to set the business and its products or services apart from those of other businesses.	La marca registrada es un tipo de símbolo distintivo usado por compañías para darse a conocer a si mismos, a sus productos y servicios ante el consumidor. Además, es usado para distinguir la compañía, sus productos y servicios de la competencia.
Conventionally, a trade-mark comprises a name, word, phrase, logo, symbol, design, image, characters, logo, a domain name, a colour applied to a surface or a combination of one or more of these elements.	Convencionalmente, la marca registrada abarca un nombre, una palabra, una frase, un logo, un símbolo, un diseño, una imagen, caracteres, un nombre de dominio, un color aplicado a una superficie o una combinación de uno o más de estos elementos mencionados.
There is also a range of non-conventional trade-marks which do not fall into these standard categories.	Existe también un espectro de marcas registradas no convencionales que no entran estas categorías estandarizadas.

A trade-mark owner seeks to enforce their rights or interests in a trade-mark by preventing unauthorised trade-mark use.	Una marca registrada busca reforzar sus propios derechos e intereses por medio de prevenir el uso no autorizado de la marca.
For a trade-mark to be in "use" it must have public "impact".	Para que una marca registrada sea "valida", esta debe tener un "impacto" público.
As such internal company documents, such as letterhead, memos, reports, etc. are not sufficient unless they are used in outside correspondence.
