Um contrato é um vínculo jurídico entre dois ou mais sujeitos de direito correspondido pela vontade, da responsabilidade do ato firmado, resguardado pela segurança jurídica em seu equilíbrio social, ou seja, é um acordo de duas ou mais vontades, na conformidade da ordem jurídica, destinado a estabelecer um regulamentação de interesses entre as partes, com o escopo de adquirir, modificar ou extinguir relações jurídicas de natureza patrimonial.	A contract is a legal bond between two or more legal persons corresponding to the will, of the responsibility of the act signed, safeguarded by the legal security in its social balance, that is, it is an agreement of two or more wills, pursuant to the legal order, aimed at establishing a regulation of interests between the parties, with the purpose of acquiring, modifying or extinguishing legal relations of an equity nature.
Sendo um negócio jurídico, requer, para sua validade, a observância dos requisitos legais (agente capaz, objeto lícito e forma prescrita ou não defesa em lei).
