Amateur film gauge introduced by Eastman Kodak.	이스트만 코닥에 의해 발명된 아마추어를 위한 필름 게이지.
In the camera, it was the same size with standard 16mm film but with double perforations.	카메라 내부에는 기존의 16mm 표준판형의 필름이 들어갔지만, 기존과는 달리 두 개의 퍼포레이션을 갖고 있었다.
At the picture area of a typical 16mm film, four frames of 8mm were recorded, two in the first run and two when turning the film cassette to the other side to expose the other half width, much like audio cassettes are used.	일반적인 16mm 필름의 이미지 영역에는 8mm의 4프레임이 기록되었는데, 두 장은 첫 번째 촬영 시에 기록이 되고 나머지 두 장은 필름 카세트를 다른 면으로 뒤집어 나머지 절반 영역에 기록하는 방식이었다. 오디오 카세트의 방식과 흡사하다고 볼 수 있었다.
When processed, it was slit lengthwise to produce a double length (usually 50ft) Regular 8mm film for projection.	현상한 이후에는 세로로 길게 잘라 두배의 길이(대개 50피트의 길이)로 만들었다. 8mm 일반영사기를 이용해 영사할 수 있었다.
A better variant, Super 8mm was introduced by Eastman Kodak in 1965.	이를 개정해 1965년 이스트만 코닥은 슈퍼 8mm필름을 발명한다.
This had smaller perforations which allowed for 50% increase of the image size and hence more detail could be recorded.	퍼포레이션 영역을 축소하여 이미지 사이즈의 50%를 증가시킬 수 있었고, 이를 통해 더 많은 디테일이 기록될 수 있었다.
The larger frame also allowed for larger projection sizes than were possible with standard 8mm (called Regular 8mm) film.	더 커진 프레임 덕에 일반 8mm 영사기를 이용했을 때 기존보다 더 큰 화면을 영사할 수 있게 되었다.
