An ion is a charged species, an atom or a molecule, that has lost or gained one or more electrons.	Un ión es una especie química, ya sea un átomo o una molécula, con carga eléctrica (esto es, que ha perdido o ganado uno o más electrones).
When an atom loses an electron and thus has more protons than electrons, the atom is a positively charged ion or cation.	Cuando un átomo pierde un electrón, y por consiguiente tiene más protones que electrones, dicho átomo estará cargado positivamente y responde al nombre de "catión".
